DK Building Blocks Introduction

Get access to this and all our DFS content here!

I suppose some type of introduction is in order. My name is Chris, but you might hear others call me E-Sports or Emrick. When it comes to the DFS and season-long football streets, I’ve been here a long time. Most recently you could have found me roaming the LoL/CSGO lobbies on Draft Kings or at the top of the GPP leader boards.

In this weekly article, I’ll be sharing the same processes that have led me to multiple tournament takedowns; I hope you’ll come along on the ride with me. Admittedly, I’m not the most eloquent (or is it elegant?) writer, but I’ll try to show you some of the players that I’m looking at, what I’m considering, and the context to why that’s important. I’m not here to make all the picks for you, but to help you understand the process that goes into making winning lineups in different situations. Most of the contests that I play are 3-max or single-entry anywhere from low stakes all the way to the top.

I should let you know my DM’s are open @EmrickD4U on Twitter – ask away.

Cade Otton (knee) was listed as a full participant on Thursday.
With one practice left to go in the week, Otton logging a full session is a great sign of his availability in the NFC Wild Card Game against the Commanders. We'll have more clarity on his situation on Friday when the team releases its final injury report of the week, but it's safe to say Otton is trending toward a return after missing the last three games of the regular season.

Sterling Shepard (foot) was limited in Thursday's practice.
Shepard has been limited in both practices this week. The veteran receiver has seen an increased role with Chris Godwin out for the season but caught only seven passes for the Buccaneers over the final month of the season. Even if active, Shepard will be hard to trust as a fantasy/DFS play with Jalen McMillan's recent emergence and Cade Otton (knee) likely on the mend.

Jayden Daniels (quad) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
That's two straight full practices for Daniels, who is all but a lock to start in the Commanders' NFC Wild Card Game against the Buccaneers. Daniels was pulled from the second half of the Commanders' Week 18 win over the Cowboys due to the quad injury, but that appears to be a minor issue. There's no concern about Daniels' availability at this time.

49ers Interview Robert Saleh, Deshea Townsend For DC Job
The 49ers completed interviews with Robert Saleh and Deshea Townsend for their vacant defensive coordinator position, per a team announcement and CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones. Saleh was fired as the Jets head coach in October and previously served as the 49ers defensive coordinator for four seasons. He arrived in 2017 with Kyle Shanahan and inherited […]

Four Verts, wild-card edition: Is this finally the year for a Ravens run? Plus the Packers are one heck of a 7 seed
Baltimore has become a well-oiled machine on both sides of the ball, Green Bay has a legit shot to upset the Eagles on the road, and why Vikings-Rams might be the coolest matchup of the weekend.
