Start/Sit Hub – Week 12

Happy Friday fantasy followers and welcome back to my weekly Start/Sit HUB! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and have an even better week 12. Mike Hubbard Jr here, providing you with information that can help you win your fantasy league week in and week out. For all things fantasy football, follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) and Instagram (@fantasyhubbard). You can tweet me or message me on either social media with any questions you might have regarding the fantasy football season.

Fantasy playoffs are within reach and hopefully you’ll be in them. No matter how your team is doing, I hope you’re enjoying the experience and continue to fight for wins. Stay informed and play smart.

Week 12 began yesterday with a feast of 3 Thanksgiving games. Andy Dalton and the Bears escaped a winless Lions team with a last second field goal. Derek Carr and the Raiders went into Dallas, never trailed, withstood a Dallas comeback, and won on a field goal in OT. Finally, the Bills reestablished their dominance in a blowout win against the Saints. All 3 road teams won.

Week 12 BYEs go to the Kansas City Chiefs and the Arizona Cardinals who both are leading their divisions and have a combined record of 16-6. Remember to check your lineups and manage accordingly. The matchups I look forward to watching the most this Sunday are the Buccaneers/Colts game and the Rams/Packers game.

I’m here every Friday with start and sit suggestions that can impact your team each week. My decisions as always include obvious and not so obvious picks. I would also like to clarify that my sit suggestions are based on the assumption you have or can add a player that has a better chance at success. Good luck this week and continue to check out my weekly articles.

Eagles @ Giants

Start – Jalen Hurts – Jalen Hurts and the Eagles had a great week 11 scoring 40 points taking down the Saints. Hurts had a 72.7 QBR, no passing TDs, failed to hit 150 passing yards, yet still finished top 3 in fantasy QBs. He ran for 69 yards and scored 3 rushing TDs. This is the 3rd time Hurts has recorded multiple rushing TDs in a game this season. Hurts can hurt defenses in multiple ways, and he is only getting better. He gets the Giants this week who don’t scare anyone. Hurts should dominate this game and get a 3rd consecutive win, but this season you just never know. I’m firing up Jalen with confidence and expecting top 5 fantasy QB results.

Recent News

Malik Nabers caught 7-of-14 targets for 68 yards in the Giants' Week 16 loss to the Falcons.
This has somehow become Nabers' usual, inefficient statline amongst his league-worst quarterback play. He almost didn't get there after coming up gimpy following his second reception. Grimacing, Nabers could be seen attempting to stretch out his pectoral for several moments. He eventually made his way back, however, and almost capped the proceedings with a garbage time touchdown. Unfortunately, Drew Lock missed him twice in the end zone as the fourth quarter neared its expiration. Hitting his floor every week with seemingly no ceiling, Nabers will remain a back-end WR2 for the fantasy finals vs. Indy's stout pass defense.

Calvin Ridley caught 3-of-5 targets for 78 yards and a touchdown in the Titans' Week 16 loss to the Colts.
Ridley saw just five targets for the second straight week with Mason Rudolph starting. One of those was a 38-yard toss that Ridley caught on a deep route for a touchdown. He is the team's primary receiver, but Rudolph has been targeting receivers in shallow areas often, pumping up tight end receiving numbers. Ridley's fantasy value is reliant on occasional touchdowns and big plays. He is in the WR3 range for Week 17 against the Jaguars.

Texans listed John Metchie (shoulder) as a limited participant on Sunday's estimated practice report.
Metchie was inactive for Week 16's game against the Chiefs after being held out of practice all week. Sunday's limited designation is an upgrade from last week, and is one worth watching with Tank Dell (knee) likely out for the season. Metchie has just 17 catches for 182 yards and a touchdown this season, but should see a healthy snap share in Week 17's game against the Ravens if active.

DeVonta Smith caught 6-of-8 targets for 51 yards in the Eagles' Week 16 loss against the Commanders.
It was the A.J. Brown Show from start to finish against Washington. Brown was targeted 15 times while Smith was an afterthought, especially in the second half. Smith dropped what would have been a third down conversion in the fourth quarter -- one that might have ended the game for the Commanders. It was a letdown performance after Smith's 111-yard, one-touchdown outing last week against Pittsburgh, but he remains in the top-30 among fantasy wideouts as the Eagles head into Week 17 against the Cowboys. Smith had 14 yards on two grabs the last time he faced Dallas.

Cole Kmet caught both of his targets for nine yards and a touchdown in the Bears' Week 16 loss to the Lions.
No fantasy manager with their salt was still starting Kmet, so his one-yard score fell on deaf ears. Kmet's 6/49/1 stat line over his past four games would be a normal day for the league's better tight ends. The fact that he needs a month to amass those stats tells you all you need to know about his fantasy outlook heading into Week 17.
