Waiver Hub – Week 18

Happy fantasy football championship week part 2! The final week of the fantasy playoffs is here for those who are still going strong following the Steelers/Browns MNF game last night. Week 18 begins on Saturday this week since there is no Thursday game or MNF game, just Saturday and Sunday games.

Mike Hubbard Jr here, welcome back to my weekly Waiver HUB. Follow me on Twitter (@FantasyHubbard) and Instagram (@fantasyhubbard) for all things fantasy football throughout the season. Feel free to tweet me or message me on either social media with any comments or questions you might have regarding fantasy football.

Fantasy football playoffs are either over or are ending after this week so now is the last and most pivotal time to make your most strategic moves and prepare for fantasy greatness. If injuries and performance weren’t hard enough to predict and plan for, we can add COVID to the list so now is another chance to hit the waiver wire and get immediate impact players. Another week gone, another opportunity to make your team stronger and win that league trophy that comes with an offseason of bragging rights.

Below are my waiver wire priorities this week. Go get available players to help your chances at winning the championship. Good luck this week!!

Juwan Johnson caught both targets for 27 yards in the Saints' Week 16 loss to the Packers.
The Saints were shutout for the first time of any team in the 2024 season with Spencer Rattler under center, with the team managing just 194 yards of total offense while turning the ball over twice. In all, it was a miserable outing for the entire offense, and Johnson's returns were no different. Johnson is unlikely to hold fantasy value for as long as Rattler remains the starter in New Orleans.

Dante Pettis caught 2-of-7 targets for 31 yards in the Saints' Week 16 loss to the Packers.
Pettis was elevated from the practice squad amidst mounting injuries but was largely unable to take advantage of the opportunity. He should revert back to the practice squad Monday and is unlikely to contribute in a meaningful way down the stretch in a lost season for the Saints.

Foster Moreau caught 2-of-3 targets for 33 yards in the Saints' Week 16 loss to the Packers.
The offense managed only 194 total yards in what eventually went down as the first shutout of the 2024 NFL season. Moreau remains unlikely to see consistent volume in what has become one of the worst offenses in the league with Spencer Rattler under center.

Kendre Miller rushed eight times for 15 yards in the Saints' Week 16 loss to the Packers, adding 16 yards on two receptions.
To be fair to Miller, the entire offense struggled through what seemed to be insurmountable deficiencies while playing with a backup rookie quarterback and without their top four skill position players. Miller ceded most of the second half work to Jordan Mims with the team taking a 21-0 deficit into the break. Mims ended up catching 5-of-8 targets for 16 yards while adding 16 yards on four carries. It remains unclear if any of the team's injured players will play again this season, but things don't currently look good in New Orleans.
(Dec 23 -- NBC Sports)

Spencer Rattler completed 15-of-30 passes for 153 yards and one interception in the Saints' 34-0, Week 16 loss to the Packers, adding 28 yards on five carries.
Rattler and the Saints got completely manhandled by the Packers in what would become the first shutout of the 2024 NFL season. While Rattler was far from sharp in this one, he was commanding an offense without its top four primary skill position players with all of Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, Alvin Kamara, and Taysom Hill out of action. The Saints managed to possess the ball for only 22:47 in game time while Rattler also lost a fumble on a play that mirrored something you would see in Pop Warner. The future of the franchise remains uncertain as they limp towards the end of the regular season, but it is fair to question whether the Saints whiffed on Rattler in this year's NFL Draft.
