DFS Building Blocks – Thanksgiving

Leverage galore. These small slates play similarly to single-game slates in that ownership tends to gravitate toward a few “obvious” plays. So we have a ton of opportunity to make simple pivots and gain a lot of leverage on the field. This is like Matt Damon playing poker without even seeing the cards – this week we can build lineups almost exclusively based on ownership expectations. Example, Josh Allen may be 40% owned making every other QB a leverage option. And, easy to get double leverage by playing Devin Singletary. All it takes is for one or two TDs to go to Singletary instead of Allen and you’re leapfrogging 40% of the field.

Darnell Mooney caught 5-of-6 targets for 82 yards in the Falcons' Week 16 win over the Giants.
Looking to bounce back from his Kirk Cousins-induced doughnut in Week 15, Mooney rebounded for his second most yards in the past five weeks. Mooney's effort came as Drake London checked out with a hamstring injury. The Falcons' initial lean is that London will be good to go for Week 17 against the Commanders, but his absence would push Mooney into the top 24 for finals week. If London goes, Mooney still seems to have re-established WR3 status with Michael Penix Jr. now under center.

Ray-Ray McCloud caught 3-of-4 targets for 19 yards in the Falcons' Week 16 win over the Giants.
With check-down maestro Kirk Cousins banished to the bench, McCloud posted his second lowest yardage total since October. The Falcons project for more passing-game volume against the competitive Commanders in Week 17, but McCloud doesn't offer enough ceiling with his modest PPR floor to force his way into the WR4 mix for the fantasy finals.

Brock Bowers caught 11-of-13 targets for 99 yards in the Raiders' Week 16 win over the Jaguars.
After disappointing the previous week against the Falcons, Bowers got off to a hot start with a 32-yard connection on the first play of the game. The majority of his catches after were of the short variety after, but once again the volume was impressive for the 22-year-old rookie. He's now over 100 receptions on the season, and he's the rare rookie tight end to go over the thousand-yard mark. Bowers should be the prime focus of the offense again against the Saints.

Kyle Pitts caught 1-of-2 targets for seven yards in the Falcons' Week 16 win over the Giants.
Pitts' missed connection was a horrendous goal-line bobble and drop that led to a Michael Penix "interception." Even with Penix immediately providing more life under center than Kirk Cousins, today was a continuation of Pitts' nightmare year. He can't be trusted against the Commanders' decent pass defense for the fantasy finals in Week 17.

Aidan O'Connell completed 24-of-38 passes for 257 yards in the Raiders' 19-14, Week 16 win over the Jaguars.
Well, someone had to win, and no one deserved overtime of Jaguars-Raiders. O'Connell was effective when he targeted Brock Bowers (11-99 on 13 targets), but outside of that was not able to get much done. Enough to get the win, however, which may bum out some fans of Las Vegas. He should get the start again in Week 17 against the Saints, and fantasy managers should look almost everywhere else.
