Monday Night NFL Showdown! 12/10

By Jonny Danger

Getting the game script right is the key to locking down single game slates in Showdown Mode. You have to tell yourself the story of the game and then let the players work themself out. Of course there are always multiple ways games can pan out so there are not many “Wrong Plays”, what you want to be avoiding are “Wrong Builds”. Just make sure whatever narrative you build to make the lineup correlates and be conscious of the style of contest you entered.

Let’s look at contest selection. There is a stark difference in how you approach a 50/50 style cash game, single entry, or multi entry events. If you are trying for cash games you want the highest possible combined floor. Single entry you need to be right on how the game flow plays out and have a part of the highest scoring side or group of players. For Multi-entry you are going to need to correlate a bunch of players in weird or one off situations that are maybe a bit out there but not totally random. In all circumstances don’t get cute just to be cute. It might work one time but it just won’t be winning ROI for you.

Looking at Vegas to get an idea on where the betting public thinks the game will go is always a good step to get a feeling for the story of the game.

Patriots (44)
@
Rams (-4.5)

When you get these kinds of tight games that are predicted to be low scoring, more defense based games I like to look at a few different ways to get points besides the Quarterbacks. Normally I would look at kickers but it seems both kickers are carrying injuries onto the game. I might look towards Defenses as Goff is prone to interceptions but those chances go down in slower paced games. When it seems both teams might favor the run and strong defensive stands the pace might limit to passing attempts.

In these cases look for guys like Damiere Byrd that might get away from the strong corners of the Rams or Cooper Kupp because he could get peppered with short targets and tally up 7-8 catches without the need for big plays or scores to get value.

Big GPPs I’m avoiding chalk plays. Cam Akers especially as the Rams just can’t be trusted to do what makes sense with their RB’s. Take your chance on Henderson or Brown taking off to be your difference makers in huge fields that will favor the rookie.

All signs point to balanced lineups being the most value this week but of course if you have a strong feeling one team will run away then stacking the guys that will get them there with the other teams guys that will get the best garbage time is a valid way to go as well. I’m sticking mostly with 3/3 builds with the occasional 4/2 for Single Entry or Cash Games and doing any an all game flow thoughts in the HUGE field GGPs and staying down in ownership on the field in those on Cam/Woods/Goff/Akers

Leverage spots at CPT continue to be the WR1 or WR2 and pegging the RB1 from either side. It just isn’t paying off lately to have the QB or to get too cute with bargain plays.

Here are my favorite players to target.
