Wildcard Building Blocks

Wildcard Weekend – SATURDAY

On these three-game slates we’re going to be treating them as we would a single-game slate, with thoughts below applying to FD and DK. I recommend making three lineups on slates like these:

  1. Chalk lineup – fill your lineup with the best, most popular plays.
  2. Balanced lineup – get some of the popular plays, but have some off-the-radar plays.
  3. Contrarian lineup – go completely contrarian and focus on a game scenario that no one expects.

What does that mean for us this week?

1. QB: Allen

RB: Taylor, Carson, Akers, Gibson, Jones

WR: Diggs, Godwin, Metcalf, Woods, Lockett, Mclaurin, Hilton

TE: Thomas, Gronkowski

DEF: Bucs, Seahawks

2. QB: Rivers, Smith

RB: McKissic, Hines, Singletary/Moss

WR: Brown/Evans, Kupp

TE: Higbee, Knox, Doyle/Burton

DEF: Bills, Colts, Rams

3. Now the fun one – the lottery pick. The list of totally contrarian plays starts and ends with Washington. We’re looking for a lineup that will get us first place if it hits… it may not be the most likely to hit, but that’s why we have lineup 1 and 2 above.

A few different ways you can go here. My clear favorite, Washington DEF. I actually don’t even mind Washington DEF in lineup 1 and 2 if you want to get different there. They bring pressure; Tom Brady doesn’t like pressure. They may not win the game, but their defense could still get you enough points to pay off at near-zero ownership.

From there, you can pair with Gibson for some chalk. Or you can go with a full stack with McLaurin and Thomas. You could even go with McKissic if you want to get away from the Gibson chalk.

Sprinkle in some other contrarian plays. Taylor is the most popular RB. Maybe the Colts get behind quickly and it becomes a Rivers + Hilton game trying to catch up. Maybe Hines gets more work. If you think they get behind quick, could also get some leverage by pairing Bills DEF with Moss or Singletary.

Good luck!
